David Vance (pronouns: they/them/theirs) is the Communications and Marketing Specialist at the UC San Diego Antiviral Research Center (AVRC), where they conduct and evaluate communications, marketing, social media, and outreach efforts for the AVRC's HIV research studies and sexual health clinics. Prior to their role at UC San Diego, they worked at the San Diego LGBT Community Center (The Center) for over three years, where they coordinated the PrEP program and also oversaw more broad LGBTQ community engagement efforts. David first became involved with the Hillcrest Town Council in 2016 as a Steering Committee volunteer, was first elected to the Board of Directors in 2017, and assumed the Chair position in 2019. David also currently serves as the Co-Chair of the UC San Diego Center for AIDS Research Transgender/Nonbinary Community Advisory Board, is a former Co-Chair of The Center's Young Professionals Council, and is a graduate of the 2019 San Diego Leadership Alliance Institute. Originally from rural Wisconsin, David has been a Hillcrest resident since the summer of 2014. They are passionate about sexual health, transgender/nonbinary issues, makeup, and intersectional social justice as a whole.
